Logo represents a company and is displayed on every product of the company. A good logo leaves a lasting impression on the minds of customers. It creates a concrete visual impact and adds face value to the brand thereby giving brand recognition.
The more attractive a logo is, the better is the brand visibility! This has driven organizations and entrepreneurs all around the globe to spend a considerable amount of budget on getting their logos designed.
Following are the tips for a winning logo design
1. Understand the importance of a logo
A logo designer must understand the importance of a logo and what difference it can make to one’s business. A logo symbolizes a brand with the aid of images, colors, fonts, shapes etc.
A logo kindles trust and recognition for a brand fetching it brand recognition and visibility. Hence, it becomes the responsibility of a logo designer to craft a logo that suffices for all the requirements and can catch attentions instantly.
2. Understand the Do’s and Don’ts of logo design
You must understand the basic rules of logo designing that would enable you to sculpt a successful logo design. Brainstorm enough to come up with innovative ideas and sketches and can thereon digitalize your logo design. You need to understand that the logo design is in sync with the business of the company and that the logo is memorable, attractive, scalable and describable.
However while designing a logo, you must bear in mind that the logo does not necessarily need to speak what business the company is involved in. For example, a logo for a car company does not need to have a pictorial representation of a car.
3. Review other successful logo designs
Once you’ve understood the importance and basic rules of successful logo designing, you need to have an insight as to which logos are most successful in the industry and what are its specialties. This will help you craft a winning logo of your own.
A successful logo is distinctive and just a glance at the logo
would prompt the customer to recognize the same. One of the most successful logo designs is that of McDonald’s. The moment you think about relishing cheese burger, you can visualize alphabet ‘M’ OF McDonald’s in your mind. It’s simple, colorful and easy to remember. It has served as their effective advertising tool. Such is the impact of logos.
4. Create your logo design plan and execute
Once you’ve understood the concept of logo designing, you need to establish an effective course of action for coming up with a good logo design. It’s the most tedious step involved but certainly the most rewarding one.
Here are a few tenets of a successful logo design process
(a) Research and understand clients’ business: Crafting an effective logo requires comprehensive research and understanding of client’s expectations as these help the designer to showcase the company’s objectives and character in a much better way.
(b) Make use of Vector Graphics: Try to design the logo as vector graphics as these can be resized without tampering with the image quality. Also, vector graphics use lesser memory capacity in your PC.
(c) Do fonts’ experimentation: To lend a professional look to your logo, you should use appropriate fonts, which are easily available online. Update your font folder consistently and experiment with font types, font colors, font formatting etc. to come up with attractive themes and designs every time. Opt for softer appeal and use low-contrast and high-contrast colors.
(d) Exercise right usage of creative elements: Do brainstorming and play around with various shapes that you have in mind. A good logo design greatly attracts the customers so it should be attractive. However, there should be right usage of colors, images and symbols and the logo should be consistent and scalable.
(e) Revise & Edit: Send it to your client for approval, know his feedback and revise if any changes are required to the final copy.

Very interesting article. Graphics are foreign to me so I didn’t know about vector graphics until you introduced them here. Very interesting! Question: Why wouldn’t we all ONLY use vector graphics based on being able to re-size over and over without distortion?
