Choosing Right Colors for Designing a Corporate Website

Right and apt usage of colors while designing a website is a crucial decision every web designer has to take. A website is not only a cluster of web pages, it actually represents a company, owner, employees and products. It requires a lot of understanding of the business before designing the website as that may already has an established color scheme. However, color scheme is one of the most significant factors as it can impact the company’s branding and positioning in the market.

Here are a few considerations all designers must keep in mind before designing a corporate website.

1. Use natural colors

Natural colors are more pleasing and give a soothing effect to your website. You can make a good combination of light colors like white, grey, yellow etc. to make your website visually enticing. Avoid using unnatural colors as they usually strain visitors eyes.

2. Text color contrasts with background color

This definitely impacts the readability of the content of the website. You can use the standard black text color on white background or other effective colors such as dark blue, gray and black. You are free to use as much colors as you want, as long as it doesn’t take away the contrast of the text.

3. Be consistent

A consistent color theme throughout the website allows the user to feel more at ease and in control of their navigation. Also to reinforce the brand recognition and for earning familiarity amongst the visitors, consistent layout and design is a must. You can select an average of three colors to maintain the consistency throughout the website.

4.Colors and emotions

Different colors have different meanings and emotions. They express happiness, sadness, anger, comfort, trust, anxiety etc. You can spend some time researching on different colors considering the mood you want to create and the audience you are designing for. A few common colors and their meanings:

Red -Energy, cheerfulness, courage, power, determination
Yellow- Intelligence, happiness, energy, enthusiasm, confidence, humour, dreams, creativity.
Green -Money, success, youth, stability, freshness, nature, tranquil, sharing, friendliness.
Orange -friendliness, warmth, approachability, energy, playfulness, courage.
Blue- wisdom, sophistication, celebration.
White- purity, cleanliness, youth, freshness, peace.
Black- power, elegance, secrecy, mystery.
Gray- security, maturity, reliability.

5.The recall value

Prospects and customers usually associate a brand with its colors. Even for a small business, choosing the right color and its association with the brand should be considered. Once a brand has been established, visitors will have certain expectations from the website as well, hence, it is important for a designer to use the same colors or similar colors used in branding or in marketing collaterals of that particular company.

There are many tools available on the Internet that help in selecting the best color combination for designing a website. These tools allow you to choose different set of colors that best suit your needs on different criteria like rating, positive comments or even the names of those combinations. Project Contract- Building Mutual Trust on LimeExchange

The Project Contract on LimeExchange helps to determine in advance how the project will progress from stage to stage or milestone to milestone. Before the project execution gets started, both the parties have to agree to the terms and conditions laid out in the Project Contract, which comprises of milestones and attachments.

Why Project Contract?

  • Both the parties mutually agree on scope, deliverables, payment and schedule of project.
  • Increased transparency and mutual trust
  • Sustained monitoring of the project at every stage.
  • Project Contract for a Buyer

On receiving a bid, the buyer can view the Project Contract sent by the service provider and can agree/disagree or edit the same. However, if a buyer edits the Project Contract sent by the provider when the project is in the bidding stage, the contract is automatically withdrawn. But if the project is in progress and a buyer submits a new Project Contract, the previous one would continue to hold until the new one gets approval from the service provider.

    A buyer can also attach:

    • Statement of Work (SOW) – stating exact scope of the work to be completed, often known as deliverables.
    • Master Service Agreement (MSA) – stating the terms and conditions and modalities for the completion of a project.
    • Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) – restrict providers from disclosing any confidential or business information obtained during the completion of a project.

A buyer can award his project to a service provider provided the provider confirms his ability to execute the project within 48 hours of selection of bid and the Project Contract stands in the ‘Agreed’ state.

    Its Advantages:

This unique work flow (Project Contract) safeguards a buyer’s interest against non-delivery or provider’s inability to work for your project, reducing the chances of any mediation. However, there are times when changes need to be made in the Project Contract circumstantially. In such a case, either of the parties may initiate the changes in the same but the other party needs to agree to the changes made therein.

Project Contract for a Service Provider

While bidding for a project, the service provider creates a Project Contract describing his bid in terms of milestones and project amount and sends it to the buyer for his approval along with the attachments (Statement of Work, Master Service Agreement and Non-Disclosure Agreement).

It may also happen that a provider gets a project Contract from the end of the buyer. In such a case, he can agree/disagree or edit the same and resend it to the buyer. However if he agrees, it doesn’t mean that his bid has been selected and if he disagrees, it doesn’t mean that the negotiations between the buyer and him have come to an end.

    Its Advantages:

Project Contract protects a service provider’s interest against non-delivery due to your preoccupation with other work and projects. However if he confirms to work on his project and the contract stands in ‘Agreed’ state, the buyer needs to escrow the project amount to our platform.

Hope our Project Contract would minimize the chances of intricacies associated with project execution. We welcome your insights and suggestions on the same.

It also varies from country to country; like if you are working for a U.S. client you will get paid in dollars and then you can convert them into your own currency. You can also charge for a special service but at an initial stage of freelancing you cannot get truckload of money in a single go. It is important to build credibility before thinking of making money.

Myth 9- I have registered on freelance job website now projects will flow in.

Fact – Freelancers generally think that after registering on online services marketplace they don’t need to make any effort to get projects as they will automatically flow in to their way. But to get good projects freelancers should keep their profile completed, take online skill tests, get certified tags to attract buyers. You can also get your educational credentials verified to acquire better work projects.

Myth 10- As a freelancer I will always get buyers as per my choice and they will be supportive.

Fact- You may or may not get nice or supportive buyers always. As nobody is perfect, you need to develop good communication skills, collaborate with them using collaboration tools like PMB and IM and build strong relationships. You never know you may turn a bad client to a really nice business partner.
